Horizon Building Services was appointed to deliver the complete HVAC package for The Nest, a striking new student accommodation development in the heart of Nottingham city centre.

With the building constructed using a timber frame, the project demanded meticulous planning and execution of all fire stopping measures. Our team worked hand in hand with building control, the design consultants, and specialist contractors to ensure every penetration was fully protected and fully compliant.

The ventilation strategy featured roof-mounted air handling units, with PIB applied to safeguard the external insulation. Fire dampers were installed at every level, enhancing both safety and system resilience throughout the building.

At basement level, we delivered a state-of-the-art plant room incorporating a booster set, water storage tank, and gas-fired boilers, providing reliable hot water to cylinders serving every apartment.
