Horizon Building Services was appointed to deliver the complete HVAC package for The Nest, a modern student accommodation development in the heart of Nottingham city centre.

Constructed using a timber frame, the project required meticulous attention to fire stopping. We worked closely with building control, the design team, and fire stopping specialists to ensure all service penetrations were fully compliant and protected.

The building’s ventilation system included roof-mounted air handling units, with PIB installed to protect the external insulation. Fire dampers were fitted at each level to provide enhanced safety and system resilience.

In the basement, we installed a fully equipped plant room comprising a booster set and water storage tank, along with gas-fired boilers supplying the hot water cylinders that serve the individual apartments.
